Mary's lesson is designed to retrace events that led to sectionalism and secession prior to the Civil War (causes of the Civil War).  Students will investigate and analyze the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, The Kansas-Nebraska Act, popular sovereignty and Uncle Tom’s Cabin in a campaign/poster project. They will look at primary sources using DocsTeach and the Library of Congress for clarification of the events.
