One Day in Gettysburg

In this lesson, students will review events of the Civil War by listening to a song. Second, they will speculate why Lincoln is in Gettysburg on the day of the dedication. Next, the students will perform a play called, “One Day in Gettysburg.” After performing the play, the students will give their opinion of the President's speech. Then, they will watch an animated video of the famous Gettysburg Address. Finally, they will evaluate the primary document and tell why they think it is considered one of the great documents of American History. All of this to help students address the question - "Why do you think the Gettysburg Address is considered one of the great documents of American history?"
